History

The League Cup final is the second between two London clubs in two years.

On the final day of the league season Chelsea and Manchester United were level on points. Manchester United became League Champions by winning 2 - 0 away while Chelsea drew 1 - 1 at home.

Derby County are relegated with the lowest points total in the Top Division (11), breaking a record set in 2006. Their one league victory is the lowest number in Top Division history.

Reading are relegated on goal difference.

Cardiff City become the 21st club from the second level to reach the FA Cup final.

History (Europe)

The European Cup final is between two clubs from the same country for only the third time (after 2000 and 2003), the first time both clubs are from England. This is the second all England European final.
