History
Newcastle United won the Championship (their first trophy) but lost the FA Cup final.
Towards the end of the season, Everton lost a match 2 - 1 at Woolwich Arsenal (the future Arsenal making their top division debut). This was a replay of a game previously abandoned because of fog. Everton had been leading 3 - 1. Had they won that game they would have been Champions.
No clubs were relegated because the Top Division was to be expanded to 20 clubs.
