Middlesbrough made their debut in the top division.

Bury's 6 - 0 victory is a record winning margin in an FA Cup final. Their two final appearances yielded a 10 - 0 aggregate score. They became the second club to win the FA Cup without conceding a goal in any round. This was Derby County's third defeat in the FA Cup final.
