Residents who used to live on Bikini Atoll on the Marshall Islands had been removed from their
homes by the USA during atom bomb tests in the 1950s. The USA government advises the people that their island has been cleared and they are
encouraged to return.
In 1983 they would be informed that they have been exposed to massive does of radiation and could only live there if they did not eat any home grown
food. The islands are now deserted.
