The Journey
We began our journey in Jordan where we visited the following places:
- Amman, the capital with its Roman ruins and hills
- The Roman city of Jerash
- Ummayad castles in the Eastern Desert
- Madaba and its church mosaics
- Kerak and its Crusader castle
- The Dead Sea
- Petra
- The deserts of Wadi Rum
We made a side trip to Jerusalem, Masada (on the Dead Sea) and the West Bank city of Ramallah (Israel / Palestine).
A flight took us to Kuwait.
Another flight took us to Qatar, a modern country preparing for the 2022 Football World Cup.

Sunrise
Our eclipse base was Doha in Qatar. On 26 December we drove a hired car at night to Sealine Beach south of the city of Doha and waited for
the sunrise.
Cloudy Almost Complete Ring
Cloud near the horizon hid the annular (ring) phase of the eclipse. We saw glimpses of the Moon covered Sun.
