Cree Language Notes

Cree is an Algonquian language spoken in North America.

Many of the words from this language are the names of animals and plants ("moose", "skunk"). Some are stereotypical "Red Indian" words used in USA made films (movies). A few are place names.

Just as "Red Indian" is a derogatory term so is "Eskimo", the Cree name for the Inuit people.
